The cost of having a tree stump removed varies on a number of factors

Traditional stump grinding is more cost efficient than having a tree stump fully removed of its entirety. That said, stump grinding costs depend on a variety of factors, including:

  • Size of stump. Larger tree stumps are significantly harder to remove. The cost increases with each inch of the stump’s diameter.
  • Age of stump. Older stumps are often easier to grind down due to the allotted time it’s had to rot and soften. However, if the stump absorbed a lot of sunlight and dried out, it could be hard as a rock making it much more difficult to grind.
  • Stump’s root system. Older trees often have deeper and wider root systems that take extra time and effort to grind. A younger tree, with a less extensive root system, makes a job faster, easier, and less expensive.
  • Cleanup needed. General landscape cleanup is included in the price of our stump removal services. However, if you choose to reuse or recycle stump grindings, you can save money and receive a practical resource for your landscaping.
  • Location and access to stump. I need you to provide a little blurb about this…

Just to give a ballpark estimate, a 12-24″ stump typically costs around $150 – $200 to grind below grade leaving the chips in a neat pile where the stump was. Additional stumps of that size can be added on for a fraction of that cost. Your 24 – 36″ stump may run $200 – $300 and anything over 40″ usually is $300 and above depending on the factors listed above.
